BORDERLINE examines the border as a spatial reality and at the same time as a social, political and personal condition. Along the former Berlin Wall strip between Flutgraben and Länderdreieck, Moving Image Sculpture #6 travels through a historically charged urban space that continues to be shaped by social and political tensions. Questions of public space, security and control intersect here with questions of access, participation and living together.
The mobile sculpture brings the film programme directly into this border space. With each new location, the relationship between film, urban space and audience shifts – movement and changing perspectives become part of the festival itself.
Curated by Arto Ushan from the archive of the WIPE Amateur Film Festival, the programme brings together ten works that explore borders as territorial and political divisions, as experiences of control and exclusion, but also as physical, mediated and personal boundaries.
The festival begins at Flutgraben, which is also a partner of the project. Following the festival, Moving Image Sculpture #6 will remain on view there during Berlin Art Week until 13 September.
